Chasing the Icon

Beginning in a remote village in Ethiopia’s Omo Valley, Chasing the Icon follows Abduselam’s attempt to connect with a globally recognized figure. The distance between an architect’s ordinary life and the world of celebrity becomes the project’s starting tension.

The pursuit is filled with obstacles, unexpected turns and new relationships. It becomes less about proximity to fame and more about perseverance, self-belief and the bonds created along the way.

From remote communities to global cities, the project argues that where a person begins does not have to define where their imagination can take them. Chasing the Icon is ultimately a testament to pursuing a meaningful dream.
